Establishment of Engineering Design Data for Hybrid Steel/Ceramic Ball Bearings.

Abstract

A hybrid steel/ceramic angular contact ball bearing was designed for optimum performance at 2.5 x 10 to the 6th power DN. A lot of bearings was fabricated to this design and life tests were conducted under two different loads. A detailed failure anlaysis was completed to define the causes for the premature silicon nitride ball failures. (Author)
