Drug Effectiveness and Trypanosome Burden in Mice,

Abstract

The response of trypanosome infected mice to Antrycide (quinapyramine), Hydroxystilbamidine and Isometamidium was found to depend on the parasite burden at the time of drug administration. With a monomorphic infection some variables that were found to influence the study of drug action in vivo include: (1) parasitemia level at the time of drug administration, (2) drug dose at the selected parasitemia level, and (3) time span to the onset of clearing when the conditions in (1) and (2) have been chosen.
