Computer Aided Parametric Sonar Design.

Abstract

A computer program was written that enables the design of parametric sonars. This program accepts as inputs temperature, salinity, depth, estimates of projector area, desired secondary source level and secondary frequency. The program computes various parametric sonar quantities among them primary source level, directivity index and primary operating frequency. The program actually generates a matrix of possible design values that permit the designer to choose those which best suit his needs based on other system considerations. The design program is written in Fortran V for use on the Univac 1108. The program is completely general and any of the input parameters can be varied while holding the others constant. A discussion on how to use the program as well as a sample example is included. (Author)
