Magnetomechanical Coupling and Magnetostriction in Vertically Zoned Tb.27Dy.73Fe2,

Abstract

We have prepared large grain-oriented samples of Tb(.27)Dy.73)Fe(2) by a vertical free-standing zone technique. The samples have larger values of magnetomechanical coupling and longitudinal magnetostriction than random polycrystalline samples prepared by arc melting. The materials have been characterized by microprobe and grain structure studies. (Author)
