A Study of the Singly Truncated Normal Distribution.

Abstract

Procedures which use standard and new statistical techniques to estimate radiances for a high spacial resolution, multiple field-of-view instrument are developed. The theory of the truncated normal distribution is applied to obtain the estimate of the radiance. A sequential procedure for determining an optimal truncation point for the single parameter truncated normal is developed. Examples of the application of these techniques to real data are provided.
