Alleviation of the Side Force and the Yawing Moment Acting on a Slender Cone-Cylinder Body at High Angles of Attack, Using Small Jet Injection at Subsonic and Transonic Speeds

Abstract

The effects of small symmetrical jets on the side forces of slender bodies at high angles of attack are investigated. Control as well as alleviation of these forces are considered. The effects of Reynolds number and blowing rate are investigated. Side force alleviation is obtained for subsonic and transonic flows. It is found that variation of Mach number affects the magnitude and direction of side forces.
