Analysis of Enlistment in the Navy as an Occupational Choice: Preliminary Results.

Abstract

This report presents the results of a project designed to predict the probability of an individual joining the Navy. The data was taken from the National Longitudinal Study of the High School Class of 1972, the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, and the 1970 Census of Population. A model of initial occupational choice was developed and estimated using maximum likelihood techniques. The findings and implications of this research are discussed. (Author)
