Optical Fiber Communications Cable Connector.

Abstract

Progress toward development of a multi-fiber, hermaphroditic, fiber optic cable connector is described. A brief survey of general approaches to fiber optic alignment schemes along with the present approaches philosphy is presented. Development status on the fiber alignment guide and preliminary connector design is summarized. Efforts toward developing a suitable fiber scribing machine for six fiber cable are introduced and future plans stated. (Author)
