Effects of Shear Deformation and Anisotropy on the Thermal Bending of Layered Composite Plates.

Abstract

A finite-element formulation of equations governing layered anisotropic composite plates subjected to thermal and mechanical loadings is presented. An exact closed-form solution is also presented for simply supported rectangular cross-ply laminated plates under sinusoidal loading to validate the finite element solutions obtained. The finite element results are in good agreement with the closed-form solutions and with the results of others. (Author)
