The Transient Tokamak.

Abstract

A tokamak plasma, and its toroidal current, can be generated by an intense pulsed ion beam. The beam is injected into a target plasma or empty vacuum chamber and then builds the plasma around it. It is shown that ignition is theoretically possible for a dense, high field tokamak. (Author)
