Measurements and Calculations of the Thermal Resistance of Three Synthetic-Fibre Battings

Abstract

A theory of the combined transport of heat by radiation and by conduction in fibrous media is presented. The theory agrees well with the measured thermal resistance of three insulating battings and explains the difference between them without the inclusion of convective heat transfer being required.
