Optimizing a Real Time Acoustical Holography System

Abstract

This report documents work performed to improve a real time acoustical holography system used for the detection of flaws and disbonds in structures. The wave propagation phenomena and acoustical imaging techniques are discussed. A series of experiments were conducted to find optimum system alignment for improving image resolution. Sample real time acoustical holograms of flawed specimens are included in the work. A list of suggested system improvements is also given.
