Modification of the AURORA Electromagnetic Environment: Experiment and Interpretation.

Abstract

In a series of experiments, it has been determined that a simple parallel plate transmission line would behave in a predictable manner when subjected to the 13-MeV-thick target bremsstrahlung produced by the AURORA flash x-ray machine. During the experiment, the following parameters were measured: current into the transmission line, current through the matched termination of the transmission line, the electric field at the bottom plate along the center of the transmission line, and a component of the magnetic field at the center of the transmission line. The experimental results were interpreted with a simple lumped parameter model of the transmission line.
