Italian Word Association Norms.
Abstract
Single word associations to two lists of Italian stimulus words were collected from two groups of 100 high school students each. List 1 included 100 words, 81 of which were Italian translations of K-R stimulus words. List 2 included 92 words so selected that the primary responses to List 1 words were all included as stimulus words in either List 1 or List 2. The word association norms obtained differ from previous Italian published norms in that all the association hierarchy is shown for each stimulus word, and, for at least 100 words, it is known whether or not, and to what extent, its primary response gives back the stimilus word as a response. These norms are compared with word association norms in other languages and some discrepancies with the results of previous comparisons are discussed. (Author)
