High Altitude Smoke Program (HASP-II).

Abstract

A dispenser previously developed for high altitude (85,000 ft) release of smoke puffs in support of stratospheric turbulence studies was modified to incorporate direct thermal input to each launch tube. The modified dispenser was environmentally and functionally tested prior to delivery to Holloman AFB, N.M. for balloon test. The dispenser ejects six (6) smoke puff canisters containing equal weights of TiCl4 and a 50/50 Water-Methanol mixture.
