Investigation of Sand-Cement Grouts

Abstract

The purpose of the investigation was, in general, to determine the maximum amount of sand that could be used in a portland-cement grout without injuring its pumpability. In order to widen the scope of the investigation, different gradations and types of sands were test-pumped. In addition, the effect of various mixtures on sand pumpability, using sands that either were deficient in or contained ample amounts of materials passing the No. 100 sieve, were studied.
