Field Manual to Determine Detection or Recognition Range of a FLIR Sensor.

Abstract

Forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensor performance range estimates over a horizontal path can be made by using a rapid estimation procedure. These estimates can be calculated while in the field by using a hand calculator for several different FLIR systems, atmospheric transmission conditions, and levels of difficulty of the visual task.
