Speed and Depth Effects in Magnetic Anomaly Detection

Abstract

This memorandum presents a theoretical evaluation of the effects of speed and depth (or altitude) or the ASW detection performance of a total field magnetometer. Median or nominal detection ranges are calculated for alternative sensor speeds, sensor depths, and criteria for detection.
