Advanced Concepts for Sea Control,

Abstract

The present paper discusses some possible surface and air vehicle concepts under consideration for the future U.S. Navy sea control mission. The desirable features of such concepts are discussed together with selected examples to illustrate some of the more novel characteristics and operational advantages. The pivotal question of affordability is addressed expressed in terms of major parameters of weight and power. Care has been taken to note that there is both a need to develop concepts to satisfy projected requirements as well as explore concepts that may open up new capabilities. (Author)
