Energetic Particle Studies: Instrumentation and Analysis.

Abstract

The general objectives of the program reported in this document were the implementation and support of research directed toward measurements of the energetic charged particle environment in near-earth space. Specific objectives were: the design, construction and calibration of instrument packages for the U.S. Air Force Satellites DMSP (Flights Number 2, 3, 4 and 5) and P78-1, and field support for the same missions; the study of the response, through computer and missions; the study of the response, through computer and mulations, of existing proton-telescopes to the natural radiation environment; the data analysis of proton data obtained from previous satellite missions; finally, the preliminary study and design of a charged particle telescope.
