Qualification of Analytical Reference Energetic Materials

Abstract

Six secondary explosives (2,4,6-TNT, RDX, 2,4- and 2,6-DNT, tetryl, and picric acid) have been qualified as standard analytical references. The instrumental techniques used in this task included gas and high performance liquid chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and infrared spectroscopy. Approximately 500-g quantities of each of the standard analytical (reference materials are being kept under surveillance at 0 C and are available for distribution upon request.
