Subchronic Oral Toxicity of the Insect Repellent N,N-Diethyl-m-Toluamide (m-DET), September 1978 - May 1979.

Abstract

A subchronic oral toxicity evaluation of the technical grade compound N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (m-DET) was conducted by this Agency using rabbits. The high dose group 528 mg/kg (1/3 LD 50) showed a progressive decrease in body weight throughout the study. Serum calcium levels were decreased, and cholesterol and triglyceride levels were increased significantly for this same group. No other toxic signs were observed during the 15-day treatment period.
