Analysis of UHF Radar Data - STRESS Series

Abstract

The data acquired by the UHF radar AN/FPS 85 while tracking the ion clouds resulting from the STRESS series of barium releases have been analyzed and the results presented. The calibration of the radar, and the motion and evolution of the ion clouds are described. The special problems of (1) correlation between optical features and radar measurements, (2) total ion inventory, and (3) early deposition of ions, have also been studied and the results are included in this report.
