An Analysis of Female Marine Recruit Attrition

Abstract

1977 AND 1978 COHORTS OF FEMALE Marine Corps recruits were analyzed in terms of correlates of recruit training attrition. Intentions to complete and difference in Marine and civilian role force were among the variables predictive of recruit training attrition. Self reported and administrative reasons for attrition, changes in expectations and perceptions over recruit training, and comparison with previously reported male cohorts are presented.
