Reliability of a Measure of Institutional Discrimination against Minorities

Abstract

The technical properties of a statistical measure of the concept of institutional discrimination are discussed. Two methods of dealing with the problem of reliability of the measure in small samples are presented. The first is based upon classical statistical theory and the second derives from a series of computer-generated Monte Carlo analyses. A test for differences between the measures is also developed and presented.
