Numerical Simulation of Hydrodynamic Ram

Abstract

The EPIC-2 code has been used for the simulation of a kinetic energy projectile, with an L/D (length to diameter) ratio of 3, impacting at normal obliquity a cylindrical fuel cell simulator. A discussion of the predicted hydrodynamic ram event is presented along with a comparison with experimental data.
