Applications of a Wage-Turnover Model to the Shipbuilding Industry.

Abstract

The object of this paper is to indicate how a model of firm behavior, which incorporates training costs and turnover, can be utilized to answer important decisions relating to hiring and retention. The basic model is adopted from the extant literature and extended in this paper. While the impetus for the paper arises out of research into the shipbuilding labor market, the applications discussed are of general interest to any firm regardless of industry. (Author)
