Raman Scattering Studies of Solid-Phase Species

Abstract

The Raman spectra of cryosorbed samples of CO2, CO, N2, O2, CH4, NH3, and H2O were obtained. Cryodeposit thickness was nominally 10 to 11 micrometers, and sample temperatures were systematically varied over the range of 17 to 85 K. Spectral scans were obtained for both the lattice mode region (25 to 1/200 cm) and intramolecular vibrational mode region (200 to 2/4000 cm). Additionally, the Raman spectra of single polystyrene latex spheres.
