The Effects of Local Economic Conditions on Navy Enlistments.

Abstract

Cross sectional multiple regression analyses of enlistment behavior in Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas were conducted the last half of 1975 and all of 1976. Results show significant effects of local unemployment rate recruiter density, and minority population size on enlistment behavior. Management implications of results were identified and extension of study time period was recommended to provide additional information on the impact of relative wages and local minority fraction on enlistment rates.
