Contingency Tables.

Abstract

This paper is concerned primarily with the use of loglinear models for the analysis of contingency table data. An introduction to multivariate statistical analysis is presented and the topic is placed in an historical perspective. Examples which illustrate some of the methods of analysis are described. The basic statistical theory associated with maximum likelihood estimation and loglinear models is outlined and the results are applied to the examples. The paper concludes with a guide to some recent applications of loglinear and contingency table modelling, and to computer programs for contingency table analysis. (Author)
