Mathematical Theory of Laminar Combustion. X. Effects of Shear and Strain.

Abstract

This report is Chapter X of the twelve in a forthcoming research monograph on the mathematical theory of laminar combustion. The effect of flow nonuniformities on a flame is investigated by first considering simple shear and strain, and then general straining motion. Evidence for the supposed connection between flame stretch and extinction is found to be mixed.
