Proceedings of Symposium on Wire Applications in Spacecraft, 8-9 May 1979.

Abstract

Hundreds of pounds of wire are used in a spacecraft and this wire is installed into the product almost exclusively by human hands. As such, workmanship is as important as the modern technological advances in materials processes and engineering in wiring a product. These proceedings present a large variety of papers covering almost every aspect of importance to spacecraft wiring. The symposium format was tutorial, and each paper was written as somewhat of a text of its respective subject. The papers can be ground into the following subjects: Specifications; Testing of wires; Wire preparation; Cables and harnesses; Wire-wound components; Wire joining techniques; Interconnection techniques; Rework and repair techniques; Design considerations; and New concepts and needs.
