Temperature Effects on the Infrared Spectrum of Chemisorbed CO.

Abstract

The temperature dependence of the infrared spectrum of CO chemisorbed on Rh supported by Al2O3 has been measured. A shift in the CO stretching frequency of 1.4 x 1/100 cm K-1 to higher frequency is observed on cooling. An electrodynamic model of the surface interactions is presented. The model accounts for both the magnitude and direction of the observed shift. (Author)
