Theoretical Studies of the Interaction of Radiation with Matter.

Abstract

Work on the interaction of radiation with matter is described. In particular photoabsorption by ions and excited states is discussed, along with positive ion properties Born approximation results for EDST charged particle impact ionization of atoms. The relevance of these areas to various applied areas such as radiation protection and safety, x-ray laser schemes and effects, nuclear pumped lasers, and IR detection is pointed out. (Author)
