Excimer Laser Research

Abstract

This mid-term report describes theoretical and experimental investigations of the mercury monohalides. These molecules show great promise for achieving high power scalable laser action in the visible portion of the spectrum. The report includes an analysis of formation kinetics; theoretical calculations of the mercury halide radiative lifetimes; and an experimental determination of the heavy particle quenching of HgX(B) by mercury atoms.
