A System Approach to Navy Medical Education and Training. Appendix 38. Competency Curriculum for Psychiatric Technician.

Abstract

The study objective consisted of a determination of what the health care personnel in the Navy's Medical Department, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery actually do in their occupations; improving the personnel process (education and training); and building a viable career pathway for all health care personnel. Clearly the first task was to develop a system of job analyses applicable to all system wide health care manpower tasks. A means of postulating simplified occupational clusters covering some 50 currently designated Navy enlisted occupations, 20 Naval Enlisted Classification Codes (NEC's) were computerized. A set of 16 groupings that cover all designated occupations was developed so as to enhance the effectiveness of professionals and sub-professionals alike. (Author)
