Critically Loaded Hole Technology Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development

Abstract

A pilot test program was conducted which consisted of a coordinated test activity between interested AGARD SMP member countries. The program leads to a more uniform attitude toward fatigue testing and evaluation of critically loaded hole parameters among its participants. This report describes the U.S. portion of the test program. The report includes both open hole and low load transfer joint testing of specimens having both high and low quality test holes. The quality level of the holes was based primarily on cost. The report also includes a technique for verifying the loading accuracy of the spectrum fatigue equipment used by each of the participants.
