Visibility Characteristics of Terrain and Their Effects on Weapon-System Performance

Abstract

This study reviews the results of several experimental efforts each of which estimated the 'intervisibility' which existed between elements of attacker and defender armor forces. It was determined that discrepancies among the results of those efforts may be attributable to differences in the definitions of variables being measured, methods of analysis employed and the terrain on which the exercises were performed. A proposed set of definitions of terms pertinent to the intervisibility area are provided. (Author)
