Studies of Nonlinear Phenomena in Plasmas.

Abstract

This report summarizes the result of a study on nonlinear phenomena in plasmas with main emphasis on developing deterministic theories for plasma turbulence based on the Ruelle-Takens theory of strange attractors, and on the interaction of solitons. The main results include the demonstration of the occurrence of turbulence-like solutions in a simplified Zakharov model for Langmuir turbulence and a number of nonlinear three-wave interactions. The stability of mode-converted lower-hybrid solitons is also studied. (Author)
