Photoconductivity in Polyacetylene.

Abstract

An extensive study of the photoconductivity together with new measurements of the absorption coefficient of polyacetylene have been carried out. It is shown that the photoconductivity in trans-(CH) sub x is controlled by localized states (inside the gap) induced either by isomerization or by dilute doping. The presence of such states and their effect on the photoconductivity of trans-(CH) sub x is accounted for by the recently proposed soliton model. (Author)
