National Dam Safety Program. Washington Forge Pond Dam (NJ00341), Passaic River Basin, Rockaway River, Morris County, New Jersey. Phase 1 Inspection Report.

Abstract

Based on visual inspection, available records, calculations and past operational performance, Washington Forge Pond Dam, initially listed as a high hazard potential structure, but reduced to a significant hazard potential structure as a result of this inspection, is judged to be in fair overall condition. The dam's spillway is considered inadequate because a flow equivalent to ten percent of the Spillway Design Flood - SDF - would cause the dam to be overtopped. (The SDF, in this instance, is one half of the Probable Maximum Flood).
