Balloon-Supported Loran Antenna, New Hardware for Tethered Balloons, and Payloads Used in BAMM Flights.

Abstract

Analysis of corona losses on a proposed balloon-supported Loran antenna pointed the way to a workable design that was fully implemented and given an operational test. By-products of the antenna work included the production of a smart valve and useful new hardware for tethered balloons. Payloads were prepared for and used in three successful data-gathering balloon flights for the Balloon Altitude Mosaic Measurements program. (Author)
