A Summary of Capabilities of Artillery Forward Observers Equipped with Laser Rangefinders.

Abstract

The purpose of the report is to show the need for a tripod for use with an artillery rangefinder. The data summarized in this report show that a laser rangefinder mounted on an azimuth measuring, aided tracking tripod increases a forward observer's ability to locate targets and to deliver fire-for-effect and adjust fire effectively.
