Sonar Transducer Reliability Improvement Program (STRIP) FY80.

Abstract

Several goals completed during this quarter include: the current phase of research on TCP for use as a transducer fill-fluid; investigation of the strength of shielded and unshielded MIL-C-915/8E cable types; and the first draft of the handbook for connector and cable harness design was partially completed. Progress in other task areas included: CUALT performed on two DT-605 hydrophones which simulated 3 years of life service; and three TR-155F transducers were retrofitted with glass-loaded polyester pressure release mechanisms and passed all acoustic extraneous noise tests.
