Phosphor-Penetration Color Cathode-Ray Tube.

Abstract

In a 16-in.-diameter voltage-penetration-type color-CRT a metallic mesh is mounted in proximity to the phosphor layer in order to isolate the switched high-voltage fields applied to the phosphor-screen from the magnetic deflection zone. Electron-optical analysis predicts the degree of geometric distortion over the switching range of 10-20 kV. Some correction means are suggested. Objective goals for resolution and brightness are quantitatively examined. The mechanical design is also described. (Author)
