Determination of the Impact of Revised Screening for Overseas Assignment

Abstract

This report presents results of an assessment of the impact of a revised screening system for overseas assignment for mid-1978 through mid-1979 as compared to baseline data gathered in 1974 on individuals reassigned from overseas billets due to unsuitability for reasons that could have been detected prior to assignment. Data on individuals screened unsuitable and on personnel who did not complete tours of duty overseas were compiled from records at Navy Military Personnel Command offices and from the Armed Services Medical Regulating Office. Conclusions were drawn from an interpretation of comparative findings, and nine recommendations were made to improve upon overseas screening and selection procedures.
