Advanced Teleprocessing Systems

Abstract

This contract has three primary designated research areas: Multi-Hop Packet Radio Systems, Multi-Access Broadcast on Wires, and Resource Sharing and Allocation. This report contains the abstracts of the publications which summarize our research results in these areas during this semi-annual period, followed by the main body of the report which is devoted to a treatment of multi-hop packet radio networks. In particular, it consists of the Ph.D. dissertation by John A. Silvester, 'On the Spatial Capacity of Packet Radio Networks'. The work presents some results on point-to-point multi-hop networks as regards their capacity, their optimal traffic matrices, and the optimal transmission range. The general behavior of capacity as a function of the number of transmitting terminals is investigated.
