A Comparison of Risk Assessment Methodologies.

Abstract

This document contains a comparison of five Risk Assessment Methodologies. They are: FIPS 65; the Air Force RAMP; Chapter 6 of the DoA ADP Handbook; the AFIPS Self-Audit Checklist; and the RAM developed by SDC for the Navy. These methodologies are compared on a number of criteria including theoretical soundness, level of effort required, ease of use, completeness of instructions, use and reliability of quantitative metrics, and appropriateness for use by the Department of the Navy.
