The Von Mises Distribution in p-Dimensions with Applications.

Abstract

The theory of the von Mises distribution in p-dimensions is summarized, and it is shown how one or more sets of unit vectors, with p components, can be analyzed using this distribution. In particular, some extensions are made on the analysis of variance techniques first developed by Watson for two and three dimensions. An application is given to the analysis of continuous proportions for which the techniques supply a good methodology. Other examples are also briefly discussed. (Author)
