Greenland Ice Sheet Program. 1979. Phase 1. Casing Operation.

Abstract

A modified CRREL thermal drill was used at DYE-3 in Greenland to drill a 8.75-in.-diameter hole 251 ft deep for the installation of a steel casing. This activity was accomplished by a drill team from CRREL in preparation for the Danish deep drill tests. Included in this report is a description of both the drilling and casing operation as well as a description of the equipment used. (Author)
